Scouting, also known as the Scout Movement, is a worldwide youth movement with the stated aim of supporting young people in their physical, mental and spiritual development, so that they may play constructive roles in society.

Scouting first came to Azerbaijan in 1918, but soon was changed to ideological Pioneer movement by Bolsheviks. Pioneering did exist until the collapse of the Soviet Union in early 1990s, and then was immediately abolished freeing harts and minds of people for the true Scouting. However, the Azerbaijani scouting organization was founded some years later on 11th of October 1997, when Namik Jafarov, the former president of association gathered the first members of the new movement and pitched the first scout camp in Nabran (Northern region of Azerbaijan). more...
